Right. Is there any similarity between English and Gujarati? Apparently not right? But have a look at the following.

Rings the bell? OK. I wouldn't be surprised if my gujarati friends here would have forgotten their mother tongue and its alphabets. ;) So let me tell you what I have written here is the Gujarati alphabets in their correct sequence. Below each alphabet there is a direct transalation in english as per its pronunciation. Look how each second letter is connected with its predecessor with an extra 'h' !! Clearly this arrangment of alphabets is too perfect to be a coincidence. What say? Eureka?? :-)
Alright, and since we are talking about mother tongues, I thought it would be nice to end this post with the following poem. Enjoy!!
થયા પ્રેમ ભક્ત દયારામ ધીરા
સદા સૌમ્ય શી વૈભવે ઉભરાતી
મળી માત્રુભાષા મને ગુજરાતી
મળી માત્રુભાષા મને ગુજરાતી.
(The language which has been blessed by jain saint shri Hemchandracharyaji. Which has been served by great poets like Narsinh Mehta, Meerabai , Premanand, Dayaram. Which always radiates with courteous elegance. I am proud that that Gujarati language is my mother tongue.)

Thanks so much for sharing the poetry about Gujarati language. I love the janani janmabhoomishcha swargaadapi gariyasi but that was related to mother and motherland, nothing I knew was related to mother-tongue so I had been looking for something and now you've posted it. :)
Btw, I too am very proud to be a Gujarati and to have Gujarati as mother tongue. I think Gujarati is the second best language in the world, of course first being Sanskrit!

well bhavesh, it is still a matter of debate but a lot of historians and linguists believe that there might be an indirect connection between gujarati and english
see gujarati developed from sanskrit.. and english from various languages like latin and german
latin and sanskrit are part of the group of languages known to have a common source giving rise to the indo-aryan migration theory.
For instance mater and pitar in latin and matru and pitru in sanskrit.. gave rise to mata and pita and mother and father
what are the odds right?
